Paraxylene Purification & Production

Paraxylene (PX) is widely used as a feedstock to manufacture other industrial chemicals, notably PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid), to produce PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) plastic bottles and polyester fibers. As distillation points of xylenes (PX-MX-OX) and ethylbenzene are close, paraxylene cannot be obtained using conventional distillation columns.

Using a technology based on adsorption, the Eluxyl® allows the production of very high purity paraxylene with high recovery. High purity metaxylene (MX) or orthoxylene (OX) can be produced as an option.
