Syngas Production & Upgrading, Hydrogen Production
Syngas, or synthetic gas, is a fuel gas mixture consisting primarily of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). The chemical composition of syngas varies based on the raw materials and the processes used for its production.
Axens Offer
No matter which feedstock or technology is used for syngas production, it must be purified before introduction to downstream units to produce H2, methanol, fuels,… For the purification steps, Axens provides a range of adsorbents to remove contaminants such as sulfur and mercury.
One pathway to produce syngas is the gasification of natural gas, biomass, coal or even from refining residue via the Fischer-Tropsch reaction. For this synthesis, Axens offers the Gasel® process for the transformation of syngas into XTL fuels. Upstream of the Fischer-Tropsch processes, the syngas must be purified by removing CO2 and other acid gas components. The AdvAmine™ technology is available to capture the CO2 in this step before further processing.
AdvAmine™ technology can also be used for carbon capture to produce blue hydrogen in Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) (click here for more info). In the syngas value chain, Heurtey Petrochem Solutions provides a comprehensive range of furnaces.
