Axens CSR Report 2024

Axens publishes its 2023 CSR report, the first for the company

Axens, a French mid-sized company and leader in energy transition both in France and globally, has published its first CSR report. This publication aims to clarify its social and environmental commitments in 2023 and the associated roadmap to achieve them. With a governance structure where CSR is integrated, Axens has set a core mission to contribute to the decarbonization of mobility and the industrial sectors of chemicals and energy, by supporting its clients in accelerating their energy transition. This CSR report makes the actions of Axens tangible in its commitment to reducing its carbon and environmental footprint. It also illustrates the strategy implemented by the company to support its clients' transformation through its multiple technologies, in achieving their CSR and climate objectives.

A sustainable and responsible development strategy based on technological ingenuity

Axens structures its CSR strategy around two pillars: the expertise of its teams and a culture focused on technological ingenuity. At the same time, it remains fully committed to its traditional activities related to refining, petrochemicals, and natural gas, for which the company develops more energy-efficient technologies and solutions to reduce the energy consumption of operations. Axens has also gradually expanded into applications that enable the production of ultra-low carbon fuels and chemicals. It now offers its clients an increasingly comprehensive and innovative range of solutions, equipment, and services. Thus, the ambition of Axens is to enhance its impact in its traditional fields of expertise while supporting its clients in transforming and optimizing the performance of their assets. These adjacent areas or new applications include plastic recycling, biofuels, synthetic fuels, CO2 capture, gas and water treatment, as well as digital transformation. To successfully implement this strategy, Axens leverages continuous Research and Innovation, through close collaboration with IFPEN, its parent company.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): a foundation for the CSR commitments of Axens

As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, Axens has identified 7 priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that align with both its CSR strategy and its development ambitions. Concrete achievements for each of these goals are detailed in the report. These objectives are overseen by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, ensuring that the CSR strategy is integrated at all levels of the company. Particular attention is given to employee health and safety, a crucial aspect for Axens as an industrial player, with 2,200 employees, 13 sites and offices worldwide, and 7 industrial sites located in France, the USA, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. The social and environmental ambitions of Axens are embedded at the core of its entire value chain.
