2020 has accelerated the pivot to sustainability. At the core of conversion, refiners and petrochemical producers must responsibly and proactively transition from oil processors to energy providers, creating the products and services that today’s consumer still values.

The 2021 conference will highlight the latest developments in European and international policy, the energy system transition to renewable fuels, new technologies and partnerships – with the leading players presented. There is rapid progress in capacity build out for renewable diesel (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) not least by retrofitting existing refinery and infrastructure assets.

In the 20 years history of the International Downstream Week – IDW, we have witnessed and shared the highs and lows of our ever-evolving industry, the challenges it has faced and overcome, as well as its many advancements and successes. The event will be proudly hosted by INA, who will join the virtual event in 2021 and the live event in Dubrovnik in 2022 with a large delegation of its top representatives and will contribute with several papers.

The pandemic has provoked new challenges and opportunities for the refining industry and ERTC: Ask the Experts, organized from 19th to 21st October 2021 in Antwerp, Belgium, will provide process engineers with the platform to pose their burning questions to Europe’s leading experts. Resolve your major unit and process conundrums with your peers, including subjects around Hydroprocessing, Co-processing, FCC units, and Turnarounds.

The 3rd Technical Conference, held from 20th to 21st October 2021, is a large-scale event that will once again gather leaders of all oil refining and petrochemical enterprises that are part of LUKOIL Group and, of course, will open doors for potential project partners.

Advanced biofuels, called 2nd and 3rd generation, produced from waste and inedible plant materials (agricultural residues, forestry waste, dedicated crops, etc.), have several advantages for the economic and industrial development of the territories. In particular, the SOUTH region has significant assets to promote the development of a structured sector and meet the expectations of a booming market, benefiting in particular from a historic industry of refining and production of fuels, bioresources, and cutting-edge research laboratories.

ERTC is Europe’s largest and most senior meeting place for the world’s downstream leaders, bringing together refineries and technology providers to address the short, medium, and long-term issues affecting the industry. Hot topics for 2021 include the recovery from a volatile 2020 and shaping refining’s role in Europe’s long-term sustainable, decarbonized energy system.
